Ten days ago our trusty little 15 year-old car unexpectedly died. White smoke billowing from a chimney is good news, but from a car exhaust, not so much. We found a very reliable, low mileage, 10 year-old replacement car yesterday, but are in urgent need of some generous and loving hands to complete the transaction. Would you be able to help us? If you would be so kind as to go to our website at www.masterlife.org and click on the PayPal donation link to make a Christmas offering, we’d be forever grateful. If you’d rather send a check by snail mail, the address continues to be: MasterLife Int’l, P.O. Box 4784, Lynchburg, VA 24502. (We will send out end-of-year receipts for 2015 gifts in January.)
Another crucial need right now is consistent monthly support, since we’ve lost almost half of our monthly support since we returned to the mission field three years ago. Even small monthly recurring gifts make a large difference. Thank you for considering our ministry to prisoners in Ireland as you plan your giving for 2016 and beyond! For those of you who are currently faithful partners in our ministry, we are sooo incredibly grateful … THANK YOU!!!
We thought you might be able to get a more personal glimpse into our ministry with Release ministry through an email that Tip received yesterday:
My name is David Hanafin. I have spent the last 15 months in Mountjoy prison serving a 3 year sentence for Theft/Fraud. Approximately a year ago, whilst in prison, I was born again. I found that I was lusting for Christian knowledge, attending all Christian programs that were provided.
One of those programs provided was the Bible Study group of which Tip was the leader. I personally, and indeed my colleagues who were also doing the program, found Tip’s enthusiasm, belief, faith and just overall support and help to everyone of us, invaluable. I had attempted to read the Bible on numerous occasions over the last number of years, but could not apply myself to it. This I will always remember from Tip’s teaching, “you must apply yourself to the Bible and its teachings.” I heeded his advice and did. Now thanks to Tip and his colleagues (who I all consider to be friends), I enjoy and love reading the Bible. If you check out my Facebook page, you will see that I have named the Bible as my favorite book of all time. This is mainly due to Tip. He is a true Christian soldier, a true friend to us.
But Tip has proved to be more than a teacher to us, more than a shining light. He was, and is, always there for us, no matter what the problem is. He has certainly shown me and taught me how to relate the Holy Bible to our own lives — or as Tip would say, how to apply it to our life. He was and always is there for us all if needed. Tip is a once off, whoever is lucky and fortunate to be taken under his wing, should and will treasure the time. He is a wonderful storyteller, the Bible is obviously the greatest truth ever written, and he is a magnificent and capable guardian and teacher of same.
I am honored and privileged to write, and believe me when I say it is easy, as it is nothing but the truth.
God Bless … yours sincerely,
With grateful hearts,
Tip and Laurie
